Our family was so excited when the Summer Olympics began at the end of July. With the Games being postponed last summer due to COVID, we had been eagerly waiting to watch them for quite some time! The events our family most enjoyed watching were sand volleyball, diving, gymnastics, and track & field. The best part about the Olympics, however, was seeing the excitement and creativity it inspired in our kids. Cody and Jaden created their own version of many Olympics events and spent just as many hours playing their own games as they did watching the real events. They designed sand volleyball (note the blocks underneath their feet which enabled the boys to slide more smoothly across the carpet),
timed hurdles,
and stuffed animal diving.
Even Adley caught the Olympics bug. Her favorite was watching the gymnastics. Here she is on her own balance beam.
Our family also planned an Olympics event with our connect group. Each family unit wore coordinating colors.
Team Schleicher attempted to re-create the Olympics rings with our shirt colors.
Our group then participated in three events. The only event I actually got pictures of was the bocce ball game, but we also did a couple relays.
It was a fun afternoon with friends and a great summer cheering on Team USA!
