Jaden and Cody were back on the ballfield for a full season this spring-- hooray! We followed our coach over to a new league and were really pleased with the switch. The boys had a wonderful season on the Twins, learning to pitch and being on a team with their cousin Ryan.
JADEN
All of the players had a bit of a learning curve to overcome with batting this year, as their peers were all beginning pitchers. Watching for balls and ducking away from wild pitches was very important! Jaden adjusted well, though, and ended up being a strong hitter for the Twins. He even hit 2 home runs over the course of the season.
Here are a few of Jaden's singles:
Jaden was eager to try out the role of pitcher this season, and he did a fantastic job. We liked that our new league had a "blended kid pitch" system. Instead of walking a batter after 4 balls, the coach from the batter's team could pitch twice to his player. The players got many more hits this way, which meant much more action on the field. It released a bit of pressure from the kid-pitchers, too. The league allowed each pitcher 40 pitches per game, which amounted to about 2 innings.
It was so fun watching Jaden on the mound. He struck out three players in his very first game! Jaden developed a great fastball over the course of the season. He was a consistent pitcher and ended up being one of the Twins' regular pitchers.
Here is our big pitcher in action!
When he wasn't pitching, Jaden was either in the outfield or at first base. Jaden was a very attentive, dependable player for the Twins. We were sure proud of him this season!
scoring some runs for his team...
CODY
Cody had a wonderful season on the Twins! After getting used to the kid-pitches, Cody became quite the power hitter and had his most consistent batting season yet. He very rarely struck out and even hit a home run this year.
Here are a couple of Cody's fantastic at-bats-- a single with an RBI...
and a double.
Cody also tried out pitching this season. We loved seeing him on the mound too! Cody didn't prefer the role quite as much as other positions on the field, but he still did a great job. Being a pitcher didn't seem to make him nervous at all. Cody pitched some important strike-outs for his team.
Our pitcher in action...
Cody's primary position this year was shortstop. He worked together with his cousin Ryan at 2nd to get quite a few outs over the season. This combo was fun to watch! Cody was also a very fast runner around the bases after getting hits. We were proud of our #4 Twins player!
Coach Josh continued to be a great fit for our boys as their coach. His gentle and encouraging manner motivated them to do their best and never made them feel too pressured. We were very thankful for his Christian example!
Coach Josh selected the name Twins for this season because our team contained 3 sets of twin boys. How crazy! The team played some very strong games together and struggled through a few games too. They ended up winning about half their games. The boys all seemed to enjoy each other.

We ended the season with a team dinner at a local BBQ restaurant.
