One day in April, the boys had only a half day of school. The kids and I took advantage of the free afternoon and visited Atkinson's Farms. There were hardly any other people there, and the strawberries were so red and plentiful. It was a perfect day for picking!
All three kids were careful about checking for fully ripe berries that weren't moldy or squished. They were fantastic pickers!
After filling up each of our buckets about 1/2 full, we called it good. The strawberries sure are fresh and juicy, but they're also a bit pricey, so we make sure not to go overboard.
Yum, yum! We love these fresh strawberries!
This family-owned farm had built a playground over the past year, so the kids were thrilled to try it out after we were done picking.
This PVC pipe slide was so unique and easily became the kids' highlight of our visit. They absolutely loved it!
For the next week, we thoroughly enjoyed fresh strawberries over waffles, in fruit salads, on cereal, in yogurt, and with shortcake. What a delicious springtime tradition!
