In June, Grammy and Papa continued their tradition of hosting Grandchildren Days, special days devoted to each grandchild. My kids look forward to these days all year. They feel so privileged to have Grammy and Papa's undivided attention all day and enjoy planning out their agendas for the day. Jaden was the first of our kids to have his special day.
Jaden wanted to make use of every moment of his day, so he asked if he could do one of his activities, playing Wordscapes, in the car.
Their first stop was the "sand pit," a large sand volleyball court near Grammy and Papa's home that all my kids LOVE digging and playing in. Jaden experimented with digging and building from various sand molds.
He and Grammy also played a fun game in which they had to walk in each other's exact footsteps.
Then, Jaden and Papa shot Sky Ripperz. Jaden especially enjoys trying to catch the small rocket-type toys.
Sticking your head out of the sunroof is always a major highlight of any grandkid day.
Once they arrived back home, Jaden put together his "trail mix" snack.
Grammy and Papa have such a large variety of tasty treats to add. It's always a fun tradition to shake the snacks together at the end.
Yum!
Then, it was off to the pool. Papa and Jaden had the entire place to themselves at the beginning.
Jaden enjoyed swimming, collecting rings, floating on his back, swimming under Papa's legs, and having a water fight with Papa.
Just outside Grammy and Papa's pool is a lake. Grammy and Papa brought along some bread that Jaden could use to feed the ducks they saw at the lake.
Jaden was also pleasantly surprised to find a turtle!
Jaden was excited to learn how to make cinnamon rolls from Grammy. This yummy dessert is one of Grammy's specialties. Jaden learned firsthand how involved the process is. He was really interested to watch the yeast grow.
With Grammy's guidance, Jaden carried out every step.
His finished cinnamon rolls looked (and tasted!) delicious. They probably tasted even better to Jaden after all that hard work.
Lunch was takeout from Chick-fil-A.
Jaden liked watching Sonic the Hedgehog after lunch.
The rest of the afternoon included bubble science,
playing (and winning!) the dice game Greed,
learning how to shave (with a blade-less razor) with Papa,
and talking about stocks.
What an amazing day Jaden had! Thanks so much to Grammy and Papa for making Jaden feel like a king!
