Cody Day

Cody was very ready for his special day with Grammy and Papa by the time it was his turn.

Just like the others, Cody started by going to the sand pit. Playing in the sand before it gets too hot is definitely ideal.

Back at Grammy and Papa's house, Cody filled up his snack bag with lots of goodies.

There was a bit of a malfunction with the "mixing" of his snack, however. Cody thought this video was so hilarious!

The second time worked much better.

Cody tested out his snack right away and enjoyed some more in the car.

Cody's next activity was canoeing. He and Papa traveled quite a long way on this lake. Cody had to work hard to help row.

Can you spot this rowing duo waaaay out in the distance?

As they were waiting for the pool to open, Cody fed the ducks...

...and played a little on the playground.

When the pool finally opened, Grammy, Papa, and Cody were the first ones in.

Cody tested out Grammy and Papa's sunroof on his trip home from the sand pit AND on the way home from the pool. The kids love doing this!

Cody's next activity request was making an apple pie. Our family was sure spoiled by all the delicious treats Grammy helped our kids make this week! Cody enjoyed using the apple corer/peeler/slicer. What a fun tool!

Then, as evidenced by the following photos, Cody did every stage of the pie-making (including the taste testing).

Cody even chose to make a lattice-top pie. He said the weaving was a little complicated, but his pie sure turned out beautiful! It was, of course, very tasty too.

For lunch, Papa taught Cody how to grill hot dogs.

After all this hard work in the kitchen and doing the grilling, Cody relaxed with a movie after lunch.

Then, Cody laughed at some photos of Mom when she was 10 years old,

played the dice game Greed,

learned to shave with Papa,

and looked at Papa's coin collections.

Grammy and Papa sure know how to make our kids feel special! Cody had such a wonderful day and enjoyed these special memories. Thanks so much, Grammy and Papa, for loving our kids and for pouring so much into them with these grandkid days!
