Next up for the special grandkid day was Adley. Prior to their days, the kids got to select their top activities from an idea list that Grammy and Papa sent us. Adley picked soooo many activities that she wanted to do! Grammy and Papa didn't quite have time to accomplish everything on Adley's list, but they sure packed in a lot.
Adley pulled up to Grammy and Papa's house in style.
Adley's first activity was doing a nature scavenger hunt while on a wagon ride on the way to the sand pit! See how expertly Grammy and Papa combined some of Adley's chosen activities? :)
Adley was especially wowed by all the pine cones in Grammy and Papa's neighborhood. She asked to take photos of a couple pine trees along their journey.
Adley enjoyed her time digging and playing in the sand pit.
Papa also shot off some Sky Ripperz for Adley while at the park.
Back at Grammy and Papa's house, Papa washed all the sand off Adley's feet.
Adley loved making special tracks with her wet feet.
Then, Adley completed one more scavenger hunt in the backyard.
After all that outdoors time, Adley worked up an appetite. She filled her trail mix bag with lots of goodies!
Adley tried out her tasty snack while watching an episode of DinoTrucks.
Then, it was off to the pool! Adley brought along some fun swim toys from home--her kickboard and the dolphin she won from our public library summer reading challenge.
These ducks just outside the pool grounds were hoping that Adley had some bread for them. Thankfully for the ducks, she did!
Playing at the pool playground was a must before heading home.
Grammy and Papa let Adley have a special treat BEFORE lunch-- a DQ blizzard!
Lunch was Adley's #1 favorite-- mac n cheese!
After lunch, they started on the big task of making cinnamon rolls, Grammy second batch of the week! Adley loved being a helper in the kitchen.
Like Jaden, Adley was so impressed by how much the yeast grew.
Adley got a good lesson in kneading dough.
Don't these pre-baked rolls already look delicious?
While waiting for the cinnamon rolls to bake, Adley did a wide variety of activities-- assembling a puzzle,
painting with glow-in-the-dark paint in a black light,
looking at photos from when Mommy was 5 years old,
learning about Papa's coin collection,
making a sand art creation,
and doing bubble science.
She even made a special bubble caterpillar!
By that point, the cinnamon rolls had baked and cooled and were ready to be frosted.
Adley taste-tested the cinnamon rolls before bringing them home and discovered that they were delicious, not that we had any doubts!
What a fantastically full and enjoyable day Adley had! Thanks so much for doing all these fun activities with Adley, Grammy and Papa. She sure treasured her time with you!
