Adley's Ducky Party - Part 2

For the next portion of Adley's ducky birthday party, Adley's older cousins and brothers led the crowd with some songs and acting that we had rehearsed ahead of time. I was so proud of these five kiddos, as they all took their acting roles very seriously. They began with a song called "Five Little Ducks." The ducky group decreased one by one with each verse of the song until finally all 5 ducks returned to find their Daddy (Jason).

Next, we did a song called "All the Little Ducks Go Upside Down" with the entire group of kids. The song was very repetitive, so the kids caught on quickly. They enjoyed acting out the verses when the ducks went upside down, snapped their beaks, and wiggled their tails.

Finally, the older kids acted out Eric Carle's book Ten Little Rubber Ducks while I read it aloud.

Jason "painted" the ducks' bills as they went down into the assembly line and gathered in the boat. I think their favorite part was when they all got to fall out of the boat together-- ha!

In the story, all the rubber ducks drift apart and float a different direction, meeting up with different animals along the way. My child actors acted out these animal encounters.

We had a very attentive younger audience during the story! Again, it was very helpful to have all the adult helpers. :) What a fabulous group of uncles!

At the end of the story, one little rubber duck (Ryan) meets up with a family of real ducks. The book has a button you can push to make a real ducky quacking sound. Adley knew this about the book, so she did the honors of pressing the button at the end. Then Adley joined the duck family as they waddled "off stage." What fun!

After this last activity, we served a chicken tetrazzini dinner and then sang to the birthday girl!

The party ended with Adley opening up gifts from her friends and family. She definitely knew what to do this year and was excited about what she received!

Recently in our family, a little cousin tradition has developed at the end of a gift opening. The cousins have started to hide themselves under the wrapping paper and shout out that there's "one more gift left!" When the birthday person tears off the paper-- surprise!! The cousins never tire of this game. :)

It was a joy to celebrate our new 2 year old with our beloved family members and friends!

We are so thankful for you, Adley Grace, and can't wait to see what God has in store for your year of being TWO!
