Here are of our family's adventures from back in December...
For King & Country Concert
All three of our kids love Christian music, so we treated them to their first concert, the Christian group For King & Country. It was a wonderful show!
The kids loved seeing the two lead singers climb into these moving platforms. What a cool special effect!
Dasher's Lightshow
Another weekend, we attended this drive-through Christmas lightshow. We enjoyed seeing all the lights synced to music. It was shorter than we remembered from last year but still a good experience overall.
Park Playtime
December was full of many warm temperature (even hot!) days. We took advantage of one of these nice weather days and took the kids to play at one of our favorite parks. Adley enjoyed the playground while the boys spent time on the tennis courts. It was fun watching them rally together.
Christmas Trains
Adley and I met some of our playgroup friends at a local church to see their amazing Christmas train display. There were two different displays, each one containing a list of specific items to hunt for within the display. The kids especially liked watching all the portions of the village that moved and lit up.
One of the church members was dressed as a train conductor and posed for a photo with the kids. So sweet!
We sure love our playgroup friends. :)
After the kids tired out with the trains, we drove over to a nearby park for some playtime.
Quarantine Tables
In mid-December, I got another positive covid test! Unlike my covid experience in August, this time I felt fairly crummy for several days. Jason did a great job caring for the kiddos through my sickness. After 5 days, Cody tested positive too! Thankfully, his symptoms were very mild, and no one else in the family tested positive. Of course, the kids and Jason all had to miss several days of school and work. The kids were a little bummed to miss their school Christmas parties, but mostly were thrilled with the extra time at home. We tried our best to keep our germs separate from each other, so Cody and I ate dinner at our own private "Covid table" while Jason, Jaden and Adley tried to stay healthy in the dining room.
Gingerbread Houses
While we were quarantined at home, the kids and I decorated houses with graham crackers and fun Christmas goodies.
All three kids had unique ideas about decorating, and yet each house turned out wonderfully!
Cody thought his pile o' candy was just hilarious and was particularly tickled about the candy still in the wrapper that he attached to the house.
Once the kids got started, they were all happily independent this year, so I actually got to construct a house too!
Christmas Music
Both Jaden and Cody enjoyed taking a break from their regular piano music to learn Christmas songs this month. They each sat down to practice quite a bit more often, so they learned their songs well! We recorded a couple for grandparents to hear...
Jaden played "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,"
and Cody learned "Silent Night." So pretty!
Despite our bout with Covid, we still had a fun month!

I especially appreciated the piano selections. Nicely done, Jaden and Cody. You play so well.
