Our sweet Adley turned 2 1/2 at the beginning of September. This girl amazes us each day with all that she knows and what she picks up on. She is an energetic, strong-willed, verbal, intelligent, and thoughtful little lady. She seems so much older than 2 1/2 with the way she communicates, and yet her tendency to scream when she doesn't get her way reminds us that, yes, she is two! We love that Adley is a confident and social little girl. She makes us so proud and we love her dearly!
We commemorated Adley's half birthday with frosted brownies, two and a half candles (we tried to stick one further down into the brownie!), and a "Happy Half Birthday" song.
I interviewed Adley about some of her favorites in the two videos below...
Here are some other fun stats/facts about Adley at 2 1/2 --
PHYSICAL
- Likes trying most things (emphatically) "all by myself!"
- Learned how to pedal on her tricycle
- Likes rolling, kicking, or bouncing balls back and forth
LANGUAGE
- Seems to have a remarkable vocabulary and is easy for others to understand
- Can recognize the letter A and the numbers 2 and 7
- LOVES listening to books and will sit still for several longer picture books in a row now
- Often comments to brothers, "That's not FAIR!" or "That's not very nice!"
- Can "read" some of her favorite books to us by memory. The video is of Adley "reading" Yummy, Yucky.
- Can point to items while counting, and can count up to 14
- Has funny ways of pronouncing some words like "applesauce" and "octopus"
- LOVES assembling floor puzzles with Mommy or Daddy's help
- Enjoys board games like Race to the Treasure, Sequence, the Disney matching game, Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, and Hi-Ho Cheerio
- Often can be quite the mother hen (and even a tad bossy at times) while playing with cousins and friends; Likes holding hands with younger friends and asking what they want to play
- Recent obsessions are playing with coins ("my money!!") or marbles and putting them in small Ziploc baggies
- Favorite shows include Curious George, Thomas, Baby Bum, and Pinkalicious
- Likes imitating her brothers when she sees them writing books. She will ask us to staple some of her drawings together and write down words for her "story." Adley's stories frequently involve a character falling down.
- Loves her Baby Grace and will not lie down for bed without her!
- Frequently wants to sit where her brothers are sitting or be doing what they're doing
- In any conflict with her brothers, Adley's reaction is always a LOUD piercing scream
- Enjoys playing with the toy food in her kitchen and serving up food for others

We thank God for this little 2 1/2 year old and for all the joy she brings us!
