March Misc

Here's a bit of what our family was up to in March...

Lutheran Schools' Week
As a kickoff to Lutheran Schools' Week at the start of the month, Jaden and Cody's school hosted Family Fest, a fun morning of carnival type games, inflatables, food, and more. This fun event was on the same day as Adley's birthday party, so we enjoyed a few games but didn't stay too long. Cody and Jaden stayed the longest in the gym with the bounce houses and inflatable games.

Each day of Lutheran Schools' Week was a special dress-up day. The boys got especially excited about mismatch day and eagerly selected their entire outfits the night before. They both said they wanted to look like ninjas (hence the random poses...).

Blanco Wedding
Also on the same weekend of Adley's party (what a crazy busy weekend that was!), we headed downtown for the wedding of some dear family friends, Chuck Blanco and his bride Rebekah. We were so grateful that Mom and Dad Schleicher were willing to watch our boys so that we could attend this celebration with just one of our kiddos. The wedding was a small but very meaningful ceremony. We even got to hear a group from Concordia's A Cappella choir sing-- so beautiful!

Spinjitsu Masters
Each month, we try to attend the free Lego build at the Lego store in the mall. It's tough to turn down free Legos! This month, the boys were particularly intrigued by the new Lego Ninjago spinjitsu toys that they got to try out at the store.

Storytime
One Friday this month, Papa was the mystery reader for Jaden and Cody's kindergarten class. The boys were so pleased when Papa came into the classroom and said that they really enjoyed the books he read. Both Papa and Grammy have been mystery readers for the boys' class this year (I was just lucky enough to arrive in time to take a picture of Papa on this day!).

Both Cody and Jaden have really been progressing in their reading this year. It's so fun to hear them sounding out words and reading full stories! Lately, they've both been excited about reading bedtime stories to Adley since they can independently read many of her books. Adley won't often sit still for an entire reading, but on this particular day, Jaden really captured her attention with a reading of Dear Zoo.

Park Playtime
We have been so blessed with many beautiful cooler spring days this year (those of you northerners who are cringing at this can rejoice when you're enjoying a beautiful summer soon and we're inside, bemoaning the awful heat and humidity!). On this particular weekend day, the kids and I enjoyed some time at the park. Cody and Jaden tested out some flying helicopters they had received as a gift from the Bolls on Adley's birthday. These copters were so fun! Two other neighbor kids playing at the park joined in on the copter launching too.

Unfortunately, on one launch one of the copters landed in the tree, just out of our reach. Mommy was pretty proud of herself when she fashioned this long stick (using some leaves to tie two smaller sticks together) and was able to get the copter down!

On this same visit to the playground, Adley figured out how to climb up the stairs to this playscape and go down the slide (backwards) fully independently. She was so thrilled to be able to do this on her own that she probably went up and down at least 20 times in a row!

Here's a video of our (big) little girl on the slide!

And finally, to close out our March photos, here is a beautiful butterfly that Adley and I happened across one morning as we were playing outside. The butterfly almost allowed Adley to touch it before it took off. What a beautiful reminder of God's amazing handiwork!
