MomBoy Olympics

In November, for the second year in a row, Jason organized a mother-son event at our church called the MomBoy Olympics. Jaden, Cody, and I were excited to participate. When we first arrived, we took silly pictures in a photo booth.

We were also given fun sweatbands to wear during our afternoon of competition.

When we registered for the event, we had to indicate which events most interested us. Then, when we arrived at the Olympics event, we were assigned 4 events to compete in. Our first event was soccer. Each of us got three attempts to kick a ball into the soccer goal, and we were awarded points depending on if we kicked the ball into the small or large goal.

Then, we moved on to football. We got to throw the ball 5 times, trying to hit a square target of our choice. The smaller the target, the more points we could earn. Mommy wasn't very good at this particular event, but she enjoyed having Cody and Jaden enthusiastically cheer her on!

Next, we participated in a relay race. Daddy was running this event, so we loved getting to see him! In this race, the three of us took turns balancing a ball on a spoon while running down the field...

and then we had to hold up a balloon between our foreheads (without using our hands!) while running down the field.

Our last official event was T-ball. Both boys hit the ball much farther than Mommy did!

When these 4 events were completed, we could go to any other event just for fun. We tried out sprinting, the obstacle course, and the water balloon toss. Jaden and Cody said the water balloon toss was their favorite. At the end of the Olympics event, we had snacks and a small awards ceremony. Our Team Schleicher didn't win any awards, but we certainly enjoyed making some mother-son memories. This mommy sure loves her sweet and talented boys!

  1. Such a fun event! Yay, Jason, for planning this memory-making time for moms and sons! I loved the pic of you and your boys balancing the balloon between your heads.
