8 Months Old

Our little sweetie turned 8 months old at the beginning of November. She is curious and always busy, busy. Now that she's crawling and on the move, Adley loves to explore new things. She has a knack for finding small choking hazards and discovering her big brothers' special toys and papers. Our whole family has to keep a close eye on her. She keeps us on our toes!

Here are some facts about Adley at 8 months:

PHYSICAL

• Pulls herself to a standing position on everything
• Sometimes unsure of how to get herself back down into a crawling position, so will stand and cry until someone helps her
• Just barely starting to cruise along the edge of furniture
• Not content being held for long periods of time; squirms until she is put down so she can MOVE!
• Learned to clap at the beginning of October; claps when others clap or when someone says "Yay!"

 

SLEEPING HABITS

• Not great :(
• Awakens several times through the night still 
• Often takes very brief naps (30 min.) and won't fall back asleep even when rocked
• Loves taking frequent catnaps in the car

EATING HABITS

• Typically eats solids twice a day and nurses with Mommy 5 times
• New foods = peaches, plum, green beans, mango

PLAYTIME/OTHER

• Smiles readily at others, although is not very content being held by anyone other than Mommy or Daddy (what a tease!)
• Loves practicing "walking" with someone holding both of her hands
• Makes a beeline towards new things on the floor (Mommy or Daddy's shoes, Jaden or Cody's special stuffed animals, etc.) and puts everything in her mouth!
• Constantly pulls at Mommy's hair or jewelry while nursing
• Very squirmy during diaper and clothing changes!
• Loves playing peek-a-boo, especially with Cody and Jaden
• Enjoys pulling books off her bedroom bookshelf, slamming the door on the entertainment center, playing notes on the piano, pulling herself to stand by the kitchen table, and peering out our front window

Particularly loves toys that make music

Stroller rides: We go on almost weekly walks with a neighbor, and Mommy
went on a few runs with Adley this month too. Adley still doesn't love the
stroller for long periods of time, but she will last longer if Mommy plays
Pandora music on her phone.

 Adley celebrated her first Halloween this month. Her costume was a gumball machine, but she wore a festive Halloween bow (and some glasses!) during the day.

Even when she doesn't sleep well (which is typically the case), our little girl is still generally a happy, giggly baby. She gives us some of her best giggles when she is rocked in this chair. 

We're so thankful for our loving, happy, curious little girl!
