Galveston

In mid-July, our family of 5 headed down to Galveston for a day trip. The weather was just perfect for time at the beach.

Adley was somewhat interested in the water, but she was startled every time a wave washed up near her.

Cody and Jaden, on the other hand, had no fear of the water. We had to remind them not to swim too far out.

The boys enjoyed jumping through waves with Daddy...

...playing in the sand,

...and using their awesome new water squirters.

Although Adley tried out the water a few different times, her favorite spot was hanging out in the shade with Mommy or Daddy.

She and Mommy even took a nice long nap together. Aw, I love this cuddle stage!

Later in the afternoon, we traveled into downtown Galveston for some ice cream at La King's Confectionery. Very tasty!

We've visited this candy shop several times as a family but this was our first visit that coincided with the shop's taffy pull. What an interesting process to watch!

Before heading back home, we took a ride on the trolley. Apparently Galveston used to offer trolley rides through town and along the seawall long ago and only just recently decided to bring back the historic trolleys. To spark some interest, the town was offering free trolley rides throughout the whole summer. Free sounded great to us!

We love living close enough to the beach to visit in just a quick day trip. It was a wonderful family day together!
