We arrived back home in Texas just in time for a few 4th of July festivities. Actually, we were planning to be home by lunchtime but had to deal with a flat tire on our journey. That process is certainly no fun with kids in tow! Anyway, we were thankful to finally make it back safely and after a quick dinner, jumped back into the car for a nearby community July 4th celebration. Unfortunately, we missed the petting zoo, and the boys only got one trip down the inflatable slide before it was packed up. But, we did get some snow cones and a decent viewing spot for the firework show.
It actually worked quite nicely that we had been traveling before this holiday. The boys were still used to Mountain Time, so staying up later for the fireworks was no problem! Since this was Jaden and Cody's first official fireworks show (their viewing from our backyard at 1 month old shouldn't really count), we were curious to see how they would react to the fireworks.
The boys were very still and attentive when the display began, probably stunned into silence by the loud noises. They stayed fairly quiet through the whole show but seemed to enjoy themselves overall.
Of course, I couldn't forget to take our annual 4th of July flag picture. The latch-hook flag was made by my mom as a memory of her dad, Grandpa Sylvester.
Here are all 4 of our flag pictures. Cody is on the left in every picture but one... Can you tell which one is different? :)
