Outings with Grammy & Papa

During Papa & Grammy's visit, we were excited to take them to a few sites around town (aside from the local grocery & hardware stores, of course!). Along the car rides, both Grammy & Papa were great entertainers for the boys in the back seat. Cody and Jaden especially liked it when Grammy let them try on her sunglasses.

One of our first outings was to our community's Farmer's Market. It was gorgeous weather for us to walk around downtown, visiting the outdoor vendors.

We picked up some tasty food, too-- yellow squash, zucchini, flavored tortillas (salsa and spinach & herb), corn on the cob (some of the sweetest I've ever tasted!), Challah bread, and (the boys' favorite) some fresh fruit. The raspberries, blackberries, and cherries looked SO juicy and good that we had to sample them right away.

The boys probably could've eaten the entire flat of fruit that we bought.

This was one successful shopping trip! :)

Another day, we attended a Little League All-Star game to watch my good friend's son Eli (also a former student of mine) play. Unfortunately, this talented pitcher had already pitched a couple of innings and was not going to be put in again. The coach wanted to save his skills for the harder team that they would play later that day. So, we didn't get to see Eli's action on the field, but we were happy to get a picture with him afterwards. Congrats on your awesome season, Eli!

Before heading for home after the game, we visited the nearby playground. Cody and Papa enjoyed playing peek-a-boo behind some of the equipment.

Of course, Jaden had to join in on the fun, too.

...and then Jaden and Cody got to try a trip down the slide together.

Most likely, the boys' favorite outing was going back to the splash pad. Jaden and Cody showed Grammy & Papa their favorite water fountain.

Jaden has become much braver about walking straight through the water.

Papa was good at spinning another fountain back and forth so that the water sprayed all over the place.

He even showed Jaden and Cody how to spin it back and forth.

Grammy jumped right in to help the boys try out some of the splash pad's other features.

And she didn't even mind getting all wet herself!

Grammy and Papa are such fun playmates!
