March Misc

 Adley's New Room

When Adley turned four, we figured it was WAY past time to move her out of her tiny toddler bed and get some "big girl" furniture. My friend Andrea graciously offered to watch our kids while Jason and I shopped around. We were so pleased with the set we landed upon, and Adley loves her larger bed and the new look as well!

Mommy/Daughter Aprons
My aunt Jeanene sent the most thoughtful gift to Adley for her birthday--a set of handmade aprons! These aprons coordinate with aprons that Jeanene made for me many years ago for a holiday-themed bridal shower. Adley loves matching me in the kitchen and will always remind me to "wear your apron, Mommy!"

Lacrosse
Since Jason's brother Jon coaches lacrosse at our area Lutheran high school, we thought our family should attend a game in support of his team. Plus, none of us had ever seen a live lacrosse game before. Honestly, with the exception of Jason, we had no idea how the game was even played! It was a fun event to watch. During halftime, Jon typically brings kids from the stands out on the field to attempt goal shots from various distances. Cody was the lucky youngster chosen to shoot for this game. We were proud of Cody for his good form and for making one successful goal!

Neighborhood Playtime
It is very rare for our boys to head outside to play sports and NOT end up with other kids in our yard. We are blessed with lots of young neighborhood families nearby. Ryker, Micah, and Kason are some of our most regular visitors. These boys especially love flag football and baseball. They definitely are an athletic bunch and a crazy crew!

National Lutheran Schools' Week
Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, Lutheran Schools' Week at Cody and Jaden's school was celebrated a bit differently this year. Instead of their annual Grandparents' Day in which family is welcomed into the classrooms, the school held a Grandparents' Day parade. Jaden and Cody made signs with their classes and waved to all the grandparents driving through the school grounds. The boys were thrilled that both sets of their grandparents attended the parade and loved seeing the homemade signs their grandparents made to decorate their cars!

After the parade, Cody rode home with Grandpa and Grandma, and Jaden got a ride from Grammy and Papa. We hosted all four grandparents for brunch.

The school had several special dress-up days during the week too. Jaden's teacher sent out a few photos of his class.

Biography Projects
Jaden and Cody put a LOT of work into these wax museum projects for school. They each got to pick a famous person from their teacher's list. Then, they spent a significant amount of time at school reading a book about their person, researching extra information, and collating all that they learned onto a display board.

The second part of their project involved the wax museum presentation. Both boys had to write and memorize a speech about their famous person. We also had to come up with character costumes for both boys to wear to school. Again due to COVID, parents were unable to attend this special event, but the teachers took great photos and videos of the kids presenting their projects. Jaden and Cody were a little nervous for this big day, but judging by their videos, we could tell they did a fantastic job!

They certainly learned a lot through this experience! Here are both 3rd grade classes at the Wax Museum.
