Anaconda Soccer

In the fall, we signed Jaden and Cody up to play on the same soccer team with their cousin Ryan. Since our former coach was no longer coaching this year, we found a dynamic new threesome to team-coach instead. Jason, Uncle Matt, and Grandpa stepped in to coach the boys' team-- the Green Anacondas. The team had a wonderful season, winning all but one game!

JADEN

Jaden had a wonderful season as an offensive player. He scored at nearly every game and was one of the team's leading scorers. He was confident and aggressive with the ball, often dribbling for long breakaways down the field. Because our team was often missing a player or two, the coaches regularly kept Jaden in for extended periods of time, forcing him to push through his tiredness. He was a tough, hard-working, reliable player.

CODY

One of Cody's biggest strengths on the field was his speed. He often played midfield or defender, so he was able to quickly get into action defensively and get the ball out of trouble areas. With his strong kick, Cody was able to score several goals throughout the season, too. He loved holding his arm up high after scoring. Cody was a supportive teammate too, often seeking out teammates who scored goals to offer encouragement. All during the season, Cody was a fast, hard-working, and strong player.

Cody ended up being a regular goalie during the season, playing in that position for often half the game. He was a quick, attentive goalie and stopped many, many goals for the Anacondas. He did an excellent job and enjoyed the position overall. Daddy was the goalie coach for Cody and another teammate, Brighton, both during practices and at games.

Another of Cody's big strengths this season was his defensive or sideline power kick. He would literally put his entire body into kicking the ball, as evidenced by these pictures. What an aggressive player!

This last photo isn't necessarily a power kick-- I added it because I love how all three coaches can be seen encouraging Cody on the sidelines. What a great trio!

How fun it was to have all three of these Schleicher men coach Jaden and Cody! They are all skilled athletes, gentle teachers, great role models, and humble servants. It was kind of them to volunteer their time and expertise.

The Anacondas had some great team spirit. They enjoyed performing a hissing, snake-like chant at each game.

After the last game, the coaches talked briefly about each players strengths on the field and presented him with a trophy and a candy bar.

And then the season ended with one final Anaconda cheer!

Thanks Daddy, Uncle Matt, and Grandpa for helping to make this soccer season a great one!
