Fourth of July

To kick off July 4th, I had the kids pose for their annual photo in front of our latch hook flag. I always love comparing the pic with years past, so here are a few previous flag photos as well.

To celebrate the holiday this year, Jason and I hosted a dinner for all of our family that was in town. After a meal of grilled pork chops, sides, and two July 4th desserts (red, white, and blue cupcakes and a flag fruit tart), we lit off some fireworks. Our subdivision doesn't allow fireworks, so we went to a nearby school parking lot. Both sets of grandparents found a perfect viewing spot by the vehicles.

This was the kids' first time lighting off their own fireworks, and each one of the boys absolutley loved it! Adley preferred to keep a safe distance and typically stayed back by her grandparents. :) Uncle Matt and Aunt Kim demonstrated a few lighting safety techniques, and then the kids were excited to try lighting some on their own.

Matt and Kim's family provided the fireworks this year. They brought an eclectic assortment of sparklers, poppers, fountains, Roman candles, and more. What a fun time!

We loved the opportunity to hang out with cousins and other family!

And apparently, no July 4th is complete without a Conga line??! Ha! Gotta love these wild and crazy boys!

We ended the evening by viewing some city fireworks, at a safe social distance from others, of course. It was a nice show. We were thankful that, despite the ongoing pandemic, we were still able to do a lot of normal holiday activities. We certainly pray that next year will be fully back to normal!
