Yes, we're still talking about Easter in the Schleicher household-- ha! No, I'm just terribly behind in the blogging department... Hopefully I can catch up a bit now that it's August (eek!) and two of my three are back in school. Here's a kick-back to springtime!
Egg Drop
Our church hosted another helicopter "egg drop" Easter event this spring. All three kiddos were looking forward to getting some candy on this warm day.
Once we arrived at church, we passed the time waiting for the helicopter by playing on the playground, meeting some special characters...
...and playing four square with friends and cousins.
The fields were already FULL of eggs in preparation for the big event.
We had our buckets and were ready to go!
Papa gave Cody some tips about the best way to collect his eggs. :)
Just before the helicopter arrived, Jason gave a brief faith message to the crowd. He used images of candy bars to make his point about the "sweet" love of Jesus. It was a very creative message.
The crowds of people were thrilled when the helicopter arrived and started dumping pounds and pounds of candy onto the fields.
Well, maybe not everyone was completely thrilled with the noisy helicopter! ;)
Don't feel too sorry for her though! Once it was time to gather eggs and candy, Adley jumped right into action.
I didn't get any photos of the boys gathering their eggs because they took off running and instantly got lost (to me anyway!) in the crowds. Thankfully, the boys knew just where to find us once their buckets were full. Everyone was happy with their spoils of candy!
Egg Dyeing
Later that afternoon, our family of five colored Easter eggs. We didn't do anything fancy-- just used the regular store-bought dyes for basic dipping, but this seemed to be perfect for our crew this year. Adley was always shocked to see the colored eggs when they came out of the dye, and the boys happily experimented with the dyes all on their own.
We ended up with a good mixture of brightly colored eggs and overly dyed brownish ones! ;) Fun times.
Easter Sunday
Many thanks to Grammy and Papa for gifting our kids with such lovely Easter outfits again this year. I thought their outfits coordinated so nicely! What a joy it was to celebrate our Risen Savior!
Later that day, our Texas Schleicher/Walquist family met at Grammy and Papa's for a delicious Easter dinner. We also did a few kid-friendly Easter activities to keep the kids occupied. First, my mom brought out some of her popular sand-art crafts. All of the grandkids just LOVE these! The kids all made Easter butterflies.
Then, we did some Easter egg relay races outside. It was a bit windy to carry the eggs on wooden spoons as originally intended, but the kids made it work with larger, deeper spoons. Run, kids, run!
Next, the kids did a fun dice-rolling activity. Each number they rolled stood for a different part of a bunny they had to draw. The kids giggled at their crazy-looking Easter bunnies by the end!
Holding baby Micah was also a popular event among the kids AND adults that evening! He looked so precious with his bunny slippers!
Our last activity was the Easter egg hunt. Each kid was assigned a different color of egg to collect, and the adults hid the eggs in varying degrees of difficulty. It worked perfectly! Some of the older boys had to look for a long time to find all their eggs!
Once all their eggs were found, the kids opened each egg to find directions to follow, such as "give a hug to four adults" or "kick like a donkey three times," which Adley is enjoying below!
The prize for completing all their eggs' directions was receiving an Easter bag full of treats from Grammy and Papa. What an exciting celebration!
