17 Months Old

Each month, this little girl continues to amaze me with how much she notices about the world around her. Adley is so observant and attempts to imitate everything she sees. It's so cute to watch her clomp around in Daddy's shoes, try to tie shoelaces like her big brothers, or wipe off the table after a meal. She absolutely loves when Mommy or Daddy gives her little tasks to be helpful. She is getting more and more independent, but she still loves being around people. We love watching Adley's personality continue to take shape. We dearly love this sweet, smart, active little girl!

Some 17-month stats about Adley:

PHYSICAL

• Loves to climb up the piano bench and "play" her own music
• Tries to jump by going up and down on her tip toes
• Cut bottom R incisor tooth
• Enjoys putting on her family members' shoes
• Loves trying to dress herself and can successfully put her legs into her shorts
• Learned how to take off her own velcro shoes

SLEEPING HABITS

• Sleeps through the night on most nights (hooray!)
• Still cries out a couple times briefly at night, usually right before Mommy and Daddy go to bed, but then will thankfully put herself back to sleep
• Falls asleep easily for her afternoon nap and sleeps about 2 hours

EATING HABITS

• Folds hands to pray by putting her hands behind her head (because she is trying to imitate the hand position for the shark prayer)
• Eats twice as much when we give her a spoon to eat
• Loves dipping all types food into her applesauce or yogurt
• Vegetables are a hard sell these days, but fruit is always a winner!

LANGUAGE

• Started to imitate more sounds that Mommy and Daddy say
• Says "help please" whenever she drops something or needs something

PLAYTIME/OTHER

• Sits still for Mommy now when getting her hair fixed (whew!)
• Likes joining in our family kickball games
• Gives Mommy cheesy smiles when getting her picture taken
• Has become very opinionated about which clothes or shoes she wants to wear (yikes, already?!)
• LOVES playing dress-up with her brothers

This video is brief, but it gives a glimpse of Adley's cheesy smile that she always pulls out when Mommy's trying to take a picture or video. Normally when I ask if Adley wants a cookie, her eyes will widen, her head will nod slowly but emphatically, and a slow grin will appear on her face. Of course, when I tried to capture this on video, our little girl was distracted and gave me a "pose" instead!
