Our 8-Month-Old Boys

Cody, Jaden

Another month has come and gone, and our sweet, now 8-month-old boys keep growing up so fast! January was a quiet, stay-at-home-often month, so it was perfect for falling into a good daily routine. What a treat for structure-loving Mommy!

SLEEPING HABITS

• Best month of sleep since the twins have been born!
• Typically sleep from 7:30 until 5:00 or 5:30 (might still wake up once on occasional nights)
• Take 3 daily catnaps
• By the end of the month, started to giggle with each other when put into their cribs for naptime.

EATING HABITS

• LOVE eating their homemade pureed foods
• Tried and enjoyed carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, banana, applesauce, pear, oatmeal, and avocado
• All foods have settled well with Jaden-- hooray!
• Nurse approx. 5 times/day with supplemental bottles

DEVELOPMENT

• Have more confidence with "walking" with help and sitting up
• Showing many signs of readiness for crawling
• Often get on their hands & knees and rock back and forth or pedal their legs
• Can scoot backwards
• Can somewhat travel forwards with a funny rolling, army-crawl type movement
• Move from the crawling position to the sitting position

BOTH BOYS

• LOVE giggling with each other
• Enjoy bathtime, especially now that baths are together in the big tub!
• Laugh at themselves in mirrors
• Beginning to show some "stranger" anxiety; enjoy best being held by Daddy or Mommy
• Get BIG smiles whenever we "brush" their teeth
• Show a lot of strength in lifting up toys to their mouths (Jaden even lifted up a heavy kitchen pot recently!)
• Love closing cabinet doors and the microwave door when helping Mommy or Daddy in the kitchen (See video below-- Sorry... the mid-video turbulence was caused by Jaden tugging on the camera strap!)

JADEN MICHAEL

Sometimes hangs on to his frog like this throughout
 an entire Wal-Mart outing!

So eager to crawl!

• Currently 16 lbs. 11 1/2 oz.
• Has become our giggly boy with especially silly giggles when he's tired
• Usually has the last laugh when stealing toys
• Shows his excitement by intensely kicking his legs
• Often sucks in lower lip & hums
• Enjoys "singing" along with hymns in church
• Tries to crawl by pedaling his legs-- ends up in a bridge-type formation (see video below)

CODY ANDREW

Sporting his BEST pouty face!

• Currently 16 lbs. 4 1/2 oz.
• Possibly cutting more teeth-- LOTS of drool and gnawing
• Loves running his fingers through Mommy or Daddy's hair when they are holding him
• Has started biting Mommy during nursing 
• Shows excitement with loud, happy screams/squeals
• Often moves his mouth in a chewing motion & says "ya, ya, ya" (see video below)
