During our cold weather winter days, we have to get creative about what we do indoors. Here are some of our recent explorations.
EXPLORATION #1: SNOW
My Mothers of Multiples group suggested bringing snow inside on a cookie sheet. This gives us the benefit of being able to experiment with the snow while avoiding the lengthy snow gear dressing and the chilly outdoors. With this great idea, the boys had all the time they wanted to touch and play with the new cold wonder...
Jaden would go through a cycle of touching the snow, quickly withdrawing his hand, touching it again, and taking away his hand again. He seemed very curious.
Cody, on the other hand, wasn't so sure about the cold wetness on his hands.
Our first snowman!
Here are the boys enjoying the snow (or at least ONE of them enjoying it!).
EXPLORATION #2: KITCHEN TOOLS
What great music pots, pans, and Tupperware can make (especially since the boys were more interested in chewing on the kitchen tools and letting Mommy do the noise-making)! In fact, Cody and Jaden enjoyed these kitchen tools so much, the kitchen gear has been residing in the boys' bedroom for the past 2 weeks. These fun toys make a great distraction when Mommy is picking out the boys' clothes for the day or changing a diaper for one of the twins.
Jaden was the only one who really got the hang of "banging" on the pots.
Cody was content to just hold & chew!
EXPLORATION #3: LAUNDRY BASKET
We enjoyed touching the basket, peeking inside, even chewing on the handles, but NOT riding inside (that part got some scared expressions... for now anyway!).
EXPLORATION #4: NEW TOYS
After attending a birthday party for one of Daddy & Mommy's friends last week, we came home with more gifts than what we brought! Thanks, Schmitt family, for your generosity! Our boys' favorite toy is this Peek-a-Shoe octopus. Although Jaden & Cody don't quite get the full concept yet, the toy plays fun music and... you guessed it!... it's fun to put in their mouths.
EXPLORATION #5: STANDING!
Cody and Jaden have shown a lot more leg strength and endurance lately. They can now stand without their knees buckling in quite as much AND Mommy & Daddy don't have to constantly hold on to them. Jaden has even pulled himself to a standing position a couple times. The boys' musical table is currently their happiest place to be!
What wonderfully fun ideas, Mommy Amy! You think of great experiences for your boys. We couldn't help but laugh along with Jaden in the snow video. He has such a contagious giggle! We'll let Cody live with us in Texas during the winter. :)
