Our family has had quite a collection of musical performances this spring. Each of the kids plays a different instrument, so we got to see each one in a separate concert. Jaden's school band group had a couple concerts recently--one informal performance at the end of the school day and a larger weekend concert with a couple other schools at Concordia.
For the Salem concert, Jaden played along with his 5th grade band as well as the middle school group. We were proud of him for tackling some difficult songs!
These recordings include "Band Room Boogie,"
"Rio Bravo"
and "Laredo."
Jaden had to get all dressed up for the Concordia concert. He sure looked sharp! Unfortunately, I had to miss this one, as I was stuck at home under COVID quarantine. Bummer! Thankfully, Jason took some great videos for me. Jaden's band group was made up of all the 5th-8th graders. His group performed a couple songs on their own and then one song with all the other bands (from Trinity and CLHS).
You can't see Jaden in any of these videos, but we promise he's back there somewhere! ;) Salem's solo songs were "Pegasus"
and "Raiders' March."
The whole group song was called "New Orleans Jazz." What a great concert!
A couple weeks later, Cody's school handbell group also performed at Concordia. At the last minute, Cody was asked to step in and play for the middle school group, as they were missing a couple ringers. His first time to look at their songs was only earlier that same day! We were so proud of him for stepping up to this challenge!
Here is Cody's 5th grade handbell group. They sounded great, especially since they all have under a year of experience.
This group played "Gecko Antics"
and "Salamander Tales."
With the middle school group, Cody played two more songs. He stuck with the music really well!
The first song was "Celebration No. 2 in E flat."
The second song, "Friendship," was a combined song with the CLHS bell choir. Cody said this one made him feel much better, knowing that another student was playing his exact same bells. Their songs all sounded so nice!
Just after Easter, I held a recital for all my piano students. Because I will be heading back to the classroom as a teacher next year, this was my last formal recital! I had such a great group of students this year and will miss their personalities. Their recital songs all sounded so good. I was proud of this bunch!
Finally, Adley also performed in her first-ever recital. She combined with Aunt Sarah and Grammy's piano students to perform at the Gleannloch Farms assisted living. Adley played three songs and confidently performed without missing a beat! Quite impressive after only playing piano for barely 4 months. We were so proud of this little lady!
Her songs were "Rex, the Tyrannosaurus,"
"The Dance Band,"
and "Ode to Joy."
This recital was a whole family affair. It was so fun to support our niece and several of our nephews all at once. After the recital, we loved seeing all these boys dote on little Selah. She definitely has a bunch of big brothers and cousins that will look out for her someday!
What a wonderful musically-filled spring!
