Zoo Visit
In the fall, I found out that our family zoo membership had been extended by 3 months to make up for the zoo's closure in the spring. I decided to take advantage of the extra time and take Adley for a zoo visit during the school week. She and I had a wonderful time together! Adley loved being able to tour the zoo at her own pace, and I loved hearing her excitement about seeing and identifying each of the animals.
The zoo wasn't very busy, so the only thing we had to wait for was the carousel (as the zoo staff sanitized after every ride). Riding the carousel is always a highlight for Adley.
Since our family's last trip to the zoo, the zoo had added a new exhibit-- South American's Pantanal (tropical wetlands of Brazil). It was quite a large exhibit (over 4 acres), featuring giant river otters, jaguars, howler monkeys, capybara, giant anteaters, macaws, and more. We loved seeing this impressive new area.
Adley always enjoys seeing Daddy's favorites-- the lions. :) What a beautiful mommy/daughter day at the zoo!
Mercer Arboretum & Botanical Gardens
On Veteran's Day, my friend Andrea (who at the time was living in our home) had the day off work and was eager to explore a new area. We decided to tour the Mercer Botanical Gardens-- a site our family had never visited. We marveled at the wide varieties of plants, the well-kept grounds, and the creative garden planning. There were LOTS of walking trails for us to enjoy too.
The arboretum even had a children's garden area, complete with hopscotch, dominoes, large chairs and building blocks. What a fun little corner!
It was a treat to be out in God's beautiful creation!
It makes me want to go there too.
