A few May happenings for our family included...
Mother's Day
I feel so blessed that God chose me to be mommy to these three! What a difficult, humbling, fun-filled, joyous, exhausting, and fulfilling journey it is to be a mom. These three kiddos have brought so much joy into my life, and they have taught me so many lessons (ones that I am still learning!) about what it truly means to love. I am so, so grateful for God's grace along the way and for His perfect example of love.
Jaden and Cody gave me a few sweet Mother's Day gifts that they had made at school. First, they drew pictures of me and then wrote some "All About Mom" facts that were displayed in their school hallway. So cute!
Jaden's Mom Facts:
My mom is 26 years old.
She likes to play games.
The best thing she cooks is pizza.
Her favorite food is botie pasta.
Her favorite thing to do to relax is play with Adley.
We like to snugl together.
She is really good at droing (drawing).
As you can see, my mom is special because she is beautiful.
Cody's Mom Facts:
My mom is 36 years old.
She likes to read.
The best thing she cooks is meet.
Her favorite food is sallid.
Her favorite thing to do to relax is sleep.
We like to play games together.
She is really good at socker.
My mom is special because I love her!
They also gave me these cute "I love you" pictures in a hand-painted and decorated frame.
Prior to Mother's Day, Jason took all three kiddos out to Target (that was a gift to me in itself!) and to Kohls for some Mother's Day shopping.
The boys were SO proud to have me open the gifts that they helped Daddy pick out-- a pair of earrings, a watch, and some new running shorts. It was so precious seeing how involved they were in the occasion this year. I felt very loved and appreciated by my whole crew! :)
A Construction Birthday Party
In mid-May, our nephew Ben turned 2 years old and celebrated with a fun construction-themed birthday party. One of the activities for all the cousins was assembling a toolbox (with a building set that Uncle Andrew prepared-- amazing!). After hammering in all the nails for their toolboxes, the kids got to help Uncle Andrew use a sander.
What a cool project!
Aunt Sarah planned out a fun construction scavenger hunt around their neighborhood (which is still being developed in some areas). The kids saw lots of cool construction vehicles and learned the names for some construction supplies too.
Back at home later that day, the construction fun continued for Jaden and Cody. First, they asked to paint their toolboxes-- what a great idea!
Then, the boys made a construction scene (including a port-a-potty) out of paper so that they could play with their new vehicles.
Character Parade
Cody and Jaden's last big kindergarten project of the year was to select a character from a favorite book and to dress up as that character. We enjoyed brainstorming some options together. Cody chose to be a dragon from the book Dragons Love Tacos. Mommy loved that all I had to do for this costume was to slightly modify Cody's crocodile outfit from Halloween (add some dragon horns, wings, and a fire-breathing tube-- presto!). Cody even made a sticker for his shirt that said, "I love tacos."
Jaden borrowed a ninja costume from his cousin Ian so that he could be Wink, the Ninja who Wanted to be Noticed (another great book!). All we had to do for this costume was to cut some crepe paper for Wink's colorful streamer. Nice!
The boys were very excited to dress up on a school day. They told me later that they walked through many classrooms and hallways of the school to show off their costumes to the other students. Cody reported that this was "very embarrassing" but said so with a smile on his face, so I think they both enjoyed their day!
