Time with G&G

One benefit of living close to family down here in TX is that we get to see out-of-town family members much more often too. In early March, Grandpa and Grandma came out for a visit to help celebrate our nephew Isaiah's first birthday. We loved seeing them at some joint-family events. One Saturday morning, the whole clan of Texas Schleichers attended Ryan and Ian's soccer games. Between the boys' games we spent some time at a playground. Grandma entertained the 3-year-olds with a story.

We really enjoyed seeing our nephews play soccer and cheering for them. We even created signs with Ryan and Ian's numbers. Cody and Jaden loved this!

At least at the start of the game, the boys were very enthusiastic about yelling, "Go Ian!" and waving their signs in the air.

Eventually, as is nearly always the case with these cousins, wrestling and being goofy together seemed much more fun. :)

On Isaiah's actual birthday, we all attended the nearby children's museum. Jaden and Cody probably spent equal amounts of time at the fire truck, in the mulch pit, and building with the big blocks. They don't always show much interest in the water table, but they seemed to enjoy it this time.

After our playtime in the museum, we enjoyed a picnic lunch outside.

Isaiah's birthday party was such a cute event! Chelsea did an amazing job of planning activities for the party, and both she and Jon pulled off a great morning for their 1-year-old. The party was a carnival theme, so the boys were all given tickets to use as they played a variety of carnival-type games. They even used their tickets to "buy" food at a concession stand. Jaden and Cody had a ball at this party! Here are all six Schleicher cousins posing at the carnival's photo booth. Happy birthday, little man Isaiah! :)

After Isaiah's party, Grandma and Grandpa spent a few days at our home. Cody and Jaden warmed right up to them! Both grandparents read a lot of books to the boys.

Most of their playtime with Jaden and Cody, however, was probably spent in the toy room playing basketball! Here, Grandpa (aka the coach) was given Cody and Jaden a mid-game pep talk.

These next two pictures didn't turn out the best, but they give you a good idea of how actively Jaden and Cody get into their basketball games. :)

The boys absolutely loved it when Grandma pretended to be a cheerleader and led them in a spelling-chant cheer (for Concordia basketball of course!).

Grandpa and Grandma also played a variety of board games with their grandsons.

Knowing that the boys liked puzzles, Grandma and Grandpa gifted Jaden and Cody with a Bible story puzzle book. Grandpa taught the boys how to put the puzzles together right in the book. What a fun activity!

It was a pleasure for our whole family to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma. Thanks for loving us and our boys! We enjoyed our time with you so much. We love you!
