In early August, we had the pleasure of hosting the AZ Walquists for an extended weekend. They wanted to take advantage of some cheap Allegiant fares before Abby turned 2. We were more than happy to welcome them!
Uncle Andrew, Aunt Sarah, and Abby arrived just in time for bedtime on a Thursday evening, so the adults spent that night visiting and snacking. :) All 3 kiddos woke up Friday morning eager to play! We spent the first few hours of the morning showing Abby around our home (and reminding the boys how to share). The three toddlers loved time on the playset, especially when they got to roll balls down the slide.
They covered long distances behind their push-toys,
explored all of the downstairs toys,
read some books with Aunt Sarah,
experimented with cookie cutters and play-dough,
and had a little morning snack.
As you can tell, we quickly hopped from one activity to another since attention span is always limited for 2 (or almost 2) year olds! So, even though we had planned on spending the entire morning at home, we soon realized that an outing would be a helpful change of pace.
Off to the park we went! The weather was probably in the upper 80's that morning, so the 3 Arizonans relished the time outside! Uncle Andrew was a pro at playing with all 3 toddlers at a time. :)
He quickly got the hang of pushing 2 kiddos on the swings at once, too!
The morning was ideal for hearing giggles and being outside.
Later that day (following lunch and naptime), we headed out for another outdoor adventure-- our nearby splash pad. None of the 3 toddlers was all that interested in the actual splash pad equipment.
When we brought out the spray bottles, however, the kiddos were ready to play!
After a while, the playtime with spray bottles turned into a full-out adult water fight!
As has been the case all summer long, Jaden and Cody hardly got their swimsuits wet at all. They soon remembered how fun it was to run down this hill and across the field. Little Abby, of course, was eager to join in!
When the toddlers noticed a herd of antelope resting in the shade, it quickly became an amusing game of chase.
For those of you who may be wondering, yes, this really is a common sight for us in residential Montana!
Even Daddy joined in on the chasing game. :)
Once back at home, we ate dinner and then had a little celebration. Since our family is unable to travel out to Arizona at the end of August for Abby's birthday, we decided to celebrate a little early with her. What an adorable 2-year-old! :)
No one had to tell Abby what to do here... she was a candle-blowing natural!
After devouring their pieces of ice cream cake (which was an easy hit for all 3 toddlers!), Jaden and Cody delivered a birthday card and gifts to Abby.
Abby's Daddy helped out a bit with the card...
..but no help was needed with the gift unwrapping!
Happy early birthday, sweet Abby! We were excited to celebrate with you-- a fun end to our first full day together.
How fun! We giggle at how our boys are so different from each other with their interest in water. :) It's good we're the ones in hot, humid TX and you're the ones in more temperate Montana! :) Looks like the three kiddos had a wonderful time together!
