The month of May was a bit of a Mommy Challenge. Jason was super busy with meetings and activities, so I had quite a few long days and many solo evenings putting the boys to bed. During the day, I felt like I was doing things only FOR Jaden & Cody rather than WITH them. Our routine felt monotonous and exhausting. I knew it was time to spice things up a bit (for my own sake as well as the boys'!) So... the concept of "One-a-Days" was born!
Each day, I told myself, we would add variety to our schedule by doing ONE thing different. The activity might be as small as trying a new food or it might be as long as a 2-hour outing. The goal was to give the boys a unique new experience and to give Mommy a challenge of planning something fun each day.
As is to be expected with almost 1-year-olds, not every activity was a hit from their point of view. Nevertheless, the "spice" of something new gave all 3 of us a much-needed change of pace! Here were some of our favorite One-a-Days...
GOING ON A STUFFED ANIMAL CRUISE
| Our expressive Cody wasn't so sure what to think of being surrounded by animals... |
THE PILLOW PILE
A NEW WALKING LOCATION
BLANKET FUN
(Roll-ups and tents)
OUTDOOR READING...
... & (the unplanned, but not surprising)
NATURE EXPLORATIONS
Daddy came home from work and was pleased to find his family outside, enjoying the beautiful weather. He added some extra fun & giggles to our activity.
Our one-a-day activities lasted for nearly 2 weeks, up until Grammy's visit and the Big Birthday Bash. It was a perfect way to get us through an exhausting month. Plus, our one-a-day idea list is still growing, ready to be implemented again in the future!
